On Monday, in Seoul, the department of police recently cracked down on shops and pharmacies that were found to be selling counterfeit copies of the popular impotent drugs, Viagra and Cialis.
The move was in response to a test run by the city’s special judicial police. With the aim of establishing the authenticity of drugs anti-impotence drugs sold in many of the city’s shops, the agency ran test on samples collected from more than a 100 sex shops and traders. The results when revealed stunned the law enforcement body.
All the samples were found to be fake.
With a 100% failure rate amongst the tested samples, the city is now trying to enforce stiffer laws and penalties for shop owners. As much as 3,600 medicines were impounded and confiscated. With about 1,800 of this accounting for the toll, Viagra pills represent as much as half of the seized counterfeit drugs. The test on the samples was run between the months of October and November.
Amongst the seized drugs, some tablets were found to be nothing but placebos. Others whilst found to contain the core chemical of Viagra—Sildenafil, were found to possess more than twice the amount found in normal Viagra pills.
In discussing the recent seizure and results the city vows on paying better control on the inflow and outflow of anti impotence pills.
A city official announced this saying “We will keep monitoring the distribution of counterfeit drugs and try to crack down on peddlers who provide the fake medicines."
